You will become an expert in no time!

CBD Dosage: General Guidelines

For a standard CBD dosage, we recommend between 0.25 mg and 0.5m for a steady dose of CBD (cannabidiol), per 1 lb of body weight.

  • Example #1: I’m 130 lbs and want to get a regular dose of CBD. I should multiply 130 lbs by 0.25 to get the mg (milligrams). (130lbs x 0.25 = mg).
  • Example #2: I am 165 lbs and would like to take a high dose of CBD. To get the righr mg of CBD, I need to multiply my weight by 0.50 (165 lbs x 0.50 = mg).

Strengths & Frequency — CBD Dosage

Regular Dose: Taking CBD regularly is great for a daily wellness boost. Additionally, it aids in digestion and appetite; relieves aches, soreness, general discomfort; as well as promoting better sleeping habits. As you can see, there are many benefits associated with taking CBD regularly on a daily basis.

High Dose: If you feel that a regular dose of CBD is not strong enough, double your dose to make it stronger.

Dosing frequency: For maximum benefits, it is recommended to take your custom dose one to two times per day.

Are you a CBD newbie? Or perhaps you just need to refresh your knowledge on how to use that new product you just got.

You are in good hands – Chronic Guru is here to help you with all your CBD dosage questions and needs.

CBD (or cannabidiol), is becoming more and more popular every day. With this popularity, comes new products, new methods to use CBD, and more questions. This is why we have created this CBD dosing chart!

Because CBD is not fully regulated, there aren’t any official guidelines regarding CBD dosing. We hope that this CBD Dosage Guideline will help you to both get started with CBD, and to continue on your wellness journey!

Gummies and CBD Dosage

Most CBD gummies you will come across are pre-measured, so you are constantly getting the same dose with each gummy. This helps build consistency in your dosing routine.

Gummies are also a discreet way to consume your CBD, and you can take them with you anywhere they are legal.

Usage: Choose the right amount of gummies based on your body weight and desired CBD concentration. It will take anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour for the gummies to start working, depending on how many you ate and when your last meal was. For maximum effects, we recommend you eat your CBD gummies on a somewhat empty stomach.

Examples:

750mg CBD Gummies – 1 gummy = 25 mg CBD | 30 gummies in bottle | 750mg total CBD

1500mg CBD Gummies – 1 gummy = 50 mg CBD | 30 gummies in bottle | 1500mg total CBD

CBD Oil

CBD Dosage: Oils

CBD oil tinctures are easy to dose out with the dropper tool that usually comes with the bottle and has measurements on it. Our CBD oil is made from our 100% organic industrial hemp plants that we grow on our sustainable farm in Apopka, Florida!

A CBD tincture can either be sublingually ingested (dropped under your tongue), or added to food and or beverages. However, if you are adding it to a beverage keep in mind that oils and liquids don’t always combine well together. Your best bet is administering the oil under your tongue. Effects should kick in 15-30 minutes after ingestion.

Make sure you hold your preferred dosage under your tongue for at leat 90 seconds before swallowing to achieve the best results and ensure proper intake.

600mg CBD Oil Tincture – One drop = 2 mg CBD | 300 drops in bottle | 600mg total CBD

1200mg CBD Oil Tincture – 1 drop = 2 mg CBD | 600 drops in bottle | 1200mg total CBD

Important Information Regarding CBD Dosage

It is important to remember that all recommendations for CBD are recommendations and suggestions.

Feel free to adjust your CBD dosages to fit your specific needs.

These recommendations should not be taken too strictly, everybody’s body is different. This causes varying results in how CBD affects individuals.

There aren’t any official guidelines or approved medical recommendations as to how much CBD you should take. So it’s important that you listen carefully to your body, and do what is best for you.

One person may perceive a low dose as a high dose and another person may need significantly more CBD than the next person to feel the effects.

Also, remember, there are many factors that may impact the way your body processes CBD. The way CBD feels in your body will depend on how much you have slept the night before, if you’ve eaten or drank anything that day, and the list goes on. You also have to consider your age, weight, and tolerance levels.

It is also important to consider the method of delivery you choose. A person who smokes CBD will experience a completely different experience than someone who prefers gummies.

Is it Possible To Take Too Much CBD? Can I Overdose From CBD?

The simple answer is, no. You can’t take too much or overdose on CBD!

Taking more than your suggested dose might have some mildly unpleasant side effects (like stomach upset, drowsiness, or an increased heart rate). However, it is not possible to overdose on CBD.

Because cannabinoid receptors are distributed throughout the body, and not in the brain stem, it’s impossible to get a lethal dose.

On that note, this isn’t an invitation to take as much CBD as you can and expect no negative side effects. Everything should be taken in moderation.

While CBD is generally well tolerated by most people, there are possible side effects to higher CBD doses.

  • It is possible to feel tired, sleepy, or lethargic.
  • You mood and appetite may change.
  • In certain cases, you might experience diarrhea or queasiness.

As your tolerance to CBD increases, these side effects are less likely to occur.

Additionally, side effects are mostly mild and temporary, and often disappear quickly. Again, you will experience fewer side effects if you develop a tolerance for CBD products.

When It Comes to CBD Dosage, Is It The Same With All Products?

Each CBD product is unique and offers a different experience. Even if you use the same dosage for your body weight, the experience you have will differ depending on the concentration of CBD you choose and the way you consume it.

The longer it takes for CBD products to kick in, generally speaking, the longer you will feel the effects.

Let’s take a look at the most common methods to consume CBD!

Sublingual

Sublingual application is when a CBD tincture is applied directly under the tongue. This allows your body to absorb CBD without having to work as hard. The CBD oil will be absorbed directly into your bloodstream via the glands under your tongue. A sublingual method helps you to feel the effects faster, and is one of the most bioavailable ways to consume CBD.

Effects will typically begin within 15-30 mins after CBD is applied sublingually. They last for between 4 and 6 hours. You can also consume CBD isolate sublingually.

Oral Ingestion

CBD edibles and drinks are more likely to give you a longer-lasting effect than other methods. The reason is that the edible must first pass through your digestive tract before it can be metabolized or broken down by your body.

Edibles can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an entire hour to kick in, and they last between 6-8 hours. Oral ingestion is a great way to experience the benefits of CBD for a prolonged time.

There are many options for CBD edibles, including gummies, brownies, sodas, and more. By adding CBD oil to your favorite foods and beverages, you can make your own edible treats!

Inhalation

If you want to feel the effects of CBD quickly, inhalation is the best way to consume CBD. Your body doesn’t have to digest CBD when you inhale it (similar to sublingual applications). It goes directly from your lungs to your bloodstream.

Inhaling CBD can cause you to feel the effects within 30 to 90 seconds. The effects last for approximately 3-4 hours. It is much easier to find the right dose through inhalation, and it is easy to up your dose if necessary.

Whether you smoke CBD flower, CBD concentrate, or hit a CBD vape pen, these are all forms of inhalation and are fast-acting. It’s always important to be aware of the concentration levels for each product. You can find CBD products in a variety of potencies. Make sure you read all labels so you can better determine your desired dose.

CBD Topicals

Topicals

CBD topicals are excellent for people experiencing external discomfort. Topicals only affect you externally where you apply them and can not enter your bloodstream through skin contact.

Cannabidiol (CBD) topicals can be used as liberally as you wish, unlike other forms fo CBD. These infused topicals are available in lotions as well as transdermal patches, hand soaps, salves, and other products.

Although CBD does not typically enter your bloodstream through topical application, there are a number of benefits to using CBD topically.

These cannabis infused topicals can provide instant results. You’ll most likely notice the effects within 15 minutes. The effects last for 2 to 4 hours. When the effects are less noticeable, you can apply more as needed.

Lastly, Start Low and Increase Your Dose Gradually

As we mentioned, the low-and-slow approach is the best way to determine your preferred dosage. This allows for CBD to slowly build up in your body and produce the most healing effects.

Consistent gradual doses are key for ingesting CBD.

It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time trying it or if you’re trying a new way to consume CBD, starting small will help you find the right dosage for you.

Even if you have to cut the dosage in half, this will allow you to get an idea of your tolerance levels. Think of CBD consumption like salting your food. You can always add more to the original amount.

It’s possible to build and decrease tolerance levels over time. You may have developed a lower tolerance to CBD if you’ve stopped using it in the past five years. Perhaps you may not be able to consume as much CBD as you used to, so it may be worth starting smaller.

Final Thoughts on Calculating The Correct Dosage

Start by reading the label on any CBD product you are considering buying. This will help you determine the correct CBD dosage. After you have read the label carefully, you can determine how much CBD you want to consume.

What do you prefer? A lower, average, regular, or higher dose?

Consider the concentration levels as well. You may only need to consume a small amount of a product with a high concentration.

Once you have determined the amount of CBD you would like to consume you can refer to the General Guidelines section located at the top of this page. Remember, your dosage will be based on you and your current body weight.
